Meet the Grounds Staff

Todd Kranz

Todd joined the Oak Ridge team in April 2016 as our Golf Course Superintendent.  He comes to Oak Ridge with over 15 years of providing championship conditions to some of the most exclusive country clubs in the United States. Todd's unyielding dedication to his craft is evident in the product and crew he brings to the club.

Originally from South Dakota, Todd has been all around the United States working on golf courses. He earned his degree in Turfgrass Management at Iowa State University.  After finishing his schooling, Todd headed out to Oakland Hills Country Club where he was an integral part of preparing for and hosting the 2004 Ryder Cup.  He has also been at Glen Arbor Golf Club in New York where he was exposed to several in depth golf course construction and renovation projects.  Along with several other prestigious private clubs in this area, most recently Todd was at Windsong Farm Golf Club. Over his 4 years there, he oversaw and completed several major course and property improvement projects, along with providing the membership with world class playing conditions.

Todd is extremely excited and passionate for the opportunity to continue the excellence here at Oak Ridge. You will see Todd working hard with the crew daily and also see him and his best friend Maggie scouting the course for geese and anything else that needs attention.

Justin Ellison
Assistant Superintendent

Justin joined the Oak Ridge team in April 2016 as the Lead Assistant Superintendent.  He comes to Oak Ridge with over 17 years of experience managing turf at high end golf clubs around the country.

Justin was very young when he was first exposed to the golf industry, starting out as a caddy at Golden Valley Golf and Country Club when he was 9.  He then found his passion for growing grass while working in Tucson, Arizona.  He has also spent time in the mountains around Lake Tahoe and numerous other elite clubs in our surrounding area.

Justin earned his turfgrass degree from the University of Minnesota in 2005, and still views everyday on the golf course as a learning opportunity to better himself both professionally and personally. He takes pride in the team and product we are putting out there for the membership.  His main focus is to help create the best playing conditions day in and day out, while also promoting a strong healthy stand of grass.

Chances are when you see Justin on the course, he will be with his #1 sidekick Buddy.

Maggie & Buddy
Golf Course Dogs

Buddy and Maggie started at Oak Ridge in April 2016 with their two best friends Justin and Todd.

Buddy has extensive knowledge of golf course surveying and pest management.  The only things Buddy loves more in life than chasing geese and squirrels are a sunny spot to lay in and holding hands while being pet.

Maggie holds true to her herding dog roots and loves to try and round up Buddy, the crew and especially Todd's cart. Theres no doubt you will see Maggie chasing the geese on the course, and you will also find that she loves people and will be looking for any kind of attention she can get around the clubhouse.
